Logos & Biz Cards
Since finishing my last logo project I was reminded of another one I did some time ago for a client who is in the business of promotion and entertainment. I was tasked by the client to mock up several types of fun cards based on her last name. These are several of the ideas that I presented to her as well as ideas of maybe how the cards opened up as well. The candy bar style cards would actually fold open almost as if you were unwrapping the information inside. The very elegant/classy looking ones (chocolate squares/kiss) would have more of an upscale feel to them. They would be embossed and maybe gold leaf or something like that to give them an extra touch. Well I just wanted to share them since I am looking to paint a storefront for a client and maybe also help her come up with something she loves for her biz cards as well.

Christmas Time
I know we're in January but recently I hung a holiday painting I did several years ago in Safehouse Coffee n Teas here in the city I live. I wanted to share a few snapshots of the painting, which is based off of a children's book to which I can not for the life of me remember the title of. It was used for a children's Christmas performance, and was painted with spray paint and latex paints on a painters drop cloth that was purchased from Home Depot. Back then, I had to be real creative with canvas material b/c I was well BROKE! I still use those creative techniques today to keep costs down when painting etc. I did several of these and will share another I have in my studio that I haven't pulled out in some time....enjoy!
This piece is roughly 14' x 4'-5"

Logo design
Those of you who know me, know I love to create digitally as well. While I do not have a degree in graphic design(yet), I have been doing it for 10+yrs. In my last post I shared a poster I did for an art show a while back. Since I was posting in that vein I decided to share another design I just finished for a client in San Diego for his fledgling sports photography company that was based on some Olympic pictograms. I had to create the surfer at the bottom of the design, because well they don't have surfing in the Olympics(yet!). Below is an excerpt from our last email and the final version of the design. Go Create, you'll be glad you did!
"Love it! Great work, we are done! Thank you very much Jason. I'm going to send you pictures of your work in action!"
Looks like 2012 is off to a good start I'd say!

Final Moments
Back in December I posted a sketch titled "When Shots Range Out". So while I'm waiting for the weather to cooperate w/me to finish the dresser I decided to make that piece a mini series. This post is The final moments b4 the shots. I think secretly I might wanna become a comicbook artist, what do you think?...lol anywho this is "Final Moments". It is the perspective of the snipers scope right before the shot. I will post one more titled "Aftermath" in a day or so. I am working on it now.

Dresser dressing
I think I have settled on these knobs from Anthropologie (of course) for the dresser. They mach perfectly with the wall color in our kitchen and I think will offset perfectly with the dresser. YUMMY!

Dresser Redo pt3
Ok so I am so close to being done I can smell victory! But I'm not, so more work lies ahead. And the rain isn't helping either since I have been working on this project in my carport. BOOOO!! I know now why people like Kristen(who inspired me to do this project) over at kfddesigns(go visit her she's awesome!) and others whom have turned this into a living get paid very well to do so. IT TAKES ALLOT OF WORK!...I am very happy with this project and cant wait to get started on my next. And so here are more progress pics of my dresser. ENJOY! Remember this is my very time attempting this kind of transformation, and while I am an artist this is uncharted waters for me...

Dresser redo pt2
It took more time then I thought it might to sand through the poly or whatever type of finish this piece originally had on it.
So here are the drawers sanded down before I filled the extra holes with wood putty.
I free handed some flowers inspired by a dresser I saw online one day. Once finished I will purchase some jeweled style knobs this week for the drawers, which I think will add a very nice touch.
Here is a picture of the dresser I found online that inspired the flowers I painted free hand.
